How to Become a Morning Person

by - October 07, 2020

I love my mornings!! I used to HATE them, until I decided to just become a morning person.

It sounds so stupid easy but it's not. Not at first! But when you realize that your life needs to get better or that you have goals to go after. You gotta make some changes. And success always leaves clues and successful people all have a morning routine and ritual to start the day powerfully.

You either start by running the day or letting the day run you. The chaos of waking up late, being flustered and unprepared for the day - was not a good look. It feels like you're running around with your head chopped off, with no time to breathe. Ever feel like that?!

I've found waking up earlier makes a difference, it gives me time to fuel up. It gives me time to raise my vibes, get grateful, and focus on the intentions for the day. This is true self-care not just some things you do on occasion since what you do daily is what dictates your entire life.

And I hear ya'll groaning, I don't have time, or I'm too tired. If you don't have time you gotta make time, and making the best of your mornings is a game changer.

Here are 5 ways to start changing your mornings:

1. Get your evenings right!

What adult in their right mind wants to set a bedtime. But it's so necessary. If you don't get enough sleep how the hell do you think you can wake up earlier in the morning or even become a morning person. You know your body best and when you don't get enough rest... well you know how the mornings go, you hit the snooze button, which just leaves you even more exhausted, you scramble to get ready and get yourself and your fam ready for the day. It just feels awful! Set that bedtime - get adequate rest so you can wake up better.

2. Leave your phone out of the bedroom.

Yes, even if you use it as your alarm clock. Put it close enough so you can hear it but out of sight so you won't just start scrolling and losing your mornings to checking email and social media. Mornings are you time, and when you start scrolling you lose time and get distracted. Trust me - this will change your mornings and you'll find more peace when you don't check your phone first thing in the morning.

3. Wake up 30 minutes earlier.

When I started to change my habits I actually started waking up an hour earlier. It gave me so much more time. Since you're trying to make something feasible I usually recommend to wake up 30 minutes earlier to start. If you don't have time, you have to make time. Time is your most valuable asset and the first 2-3 hours in the morning are your peak! Its surprising what you can get done in 30 minutes.

4. Find a routine that works for you!

I have tried so many different morning routines. And I feel like I'm finally at a place where I have found the right groove for myself. I'll probably do a separate post on what my morning routine later, since this is about you finding what works for you.  A routine is just some things that you do that uplift you and raise your vibes. For me thats having a healthy breakfast, journalling, writing gratitude, reading a personal growth book, reviewing my vision board and goals. Sounds like a lot, but when you just condense it to about an hours time it works. These are things that fuel my mentally, and prep me for a great day. Everyone's routine looks different it can be more or less the same yet its gotta feel good to you.

5. Some days it won't feel great. Focus on what you can gain.

Some days you won't feel like it. Okay when it starts to get cold out and all you wanna do is roll up in your blankets - its bound to happen. This is where you just have to do it despite your feelings. Don't let your feelings get in the way of your mornings. Not saying you can't sleep in once in a while. Focus on the slew of benefits you get from waking up earlier and becoming a morning person. You feel more in control over your life. You can pretty much tackle anything since being a morning person and getting out of bed can just be so damn hard sometimes. It's hard - but this kind of hard, is one that can def improve your life and give you more peace. Which at the end of the day is hard to find when you're not control of the start of your day.
I hope these tips help you to start taking back your mornings and being a boss that you are!!! Change is hard but staying the same can be even harder when you know you're destined for greatness. You're destined for great things, don't let yourself be the one to hold you back.
XOXO
